[Review] HyunA – Nabillera

HyunA is back to rock our worlds with her new mini-album ‘Nabillera’. This queen always delivers, so let’s take a closer look.

Nabillera

We start off with the title track ‘Nabillera’. This is so camp it’s insane. I’m living for it.

Musically wise, there is a very thin instrumental. There’s mostly a beat and HyunA’s vocals with here and there some vocal layering. The pre-chorus spruces things up a bit some vocal melodies.

I can’t believe no one has ever thought of the line ‘Me so fly like a butterfly’. It’s awesome. Also the yassified ‘Macarena’ dance is everything.

Next up is ‘Bad Dog’. We’re going for a rock vibe in this one. It’s very cute to see her fiance DAWN in the writers of the track. I’m getting major Avril Lavigne vibes and I’m here for it.

‘Picasso & Fernande Olivier’ is next. HyunA wrote and co-composed the track. Fernande Olivier was Picasso’s muse. She had a very tumultuous life, which you can read more about here.

The track ‘Whatever’ follows that with a very interesting instrumental. This was produced by none other than Sunwoo Jung A, who’s work I love! I think you can hear her vocals in the background. The instrumental is very cute and well-layered.

The closing track is ‘Watch Me’. HyunA also wrote the lyrics for this one. This is a soft pop track that is perfect for a late night summer drive. It’s a super lovely listen.

Overall ‘Nabillera’ by HyunA is a really cool mini-album. Go ahead and listen to it on Spotify here.
