[Review] HUTA – BOOM

BTOB‘s HUTA is back with his second album ‘BOOM‘. We all know him not just because his insane visuals but also his incredible talent. Lee Min-hyuk is an all rounder and we are just excited to see what he has prepared for this release.

The concept pictures for these release were super diverse and very unique, visuals for every single taste, and we have the feeling the tracks in this album will follow the same vibe. Let’s dive in.

BOOM

Cool beats start off ‘I’m Rare‘, and with this track we get a very interesting mix of sounds. The changes in pace had me very intrigued, but the common element among all of it was HUTA killing it with his rapping. The chanting as outro was a nice touch and had me hyped up and waiting for the next track.

We go next to the title track ‘BOOM‘, and with this one we go alternative with trap beats, and Min-hyuk’s sexy singing. The pre-chorus in this song is really good, and the beat drops super satisfying to listen to. This single is intense and impressive and so it is its music video. The visuals are full of power, the use of red coloured lights for some of the sets made him looke intense, mysterious and dark. Watch it below.

With 80’s synth and lovely vocals we get ‘Shadow‘. The vibes of this song are charming and chill, with an effortlessly good flow and sound build up. This single is perfect for jamming to it. Moving on, we get ‘Dear My Spring‘ and this single brings the romantic side of HUTA out, and made me completely fall for his voice. This single is super sweet and it feels like a tight and warm hug.

Piano acoustics introduce listeners to ‘Secretly‘. This song feels like a serenade. The instrumentation is fantastic, the constant inclusion of new instruments made this song a listening experience. I really loved every single bit of it. It really gave me OST vibes, and I am here for it.

With a low and deep vocal intro ‘Is it Love?‘ begins featuring BTOB’s Lee Changsub. This song shows off heavenly singing and the very impressive vocal range of Changsub and Min-hyuk. Everything about this single is romantic and super soft.

Second half

Starting the second half of this album we get ‘Firework‘ with a smooth house track and a dope inclusion of instrumentals. This song is a total mood but my personal highlight is the bridge with its raw and rather angsty rap delivery. ‘Real Game (Like Messi)‘ takes over with a mix of hip-hop and EDM. It just made me feel energetic after listening to it. It has motivational song vibe, perfect for your gym workout playlist.

With a city pop style and a very sweet sound ‘Us Together‘ starts. HUTA’s soft singing and his rapping in this song are two contrasts that took me by surprise in this single. Two sides of his music style in perfect balance, cute but at the same time sexy and super cool.

Red Wine‘ brings disco music to this release. The hybrid with R&B beats was a surprising touch, but nevertheless made this song a super enjoyable listen. It is super fun, trendy and chill to listen to.

Next up we get the Korean version of his Japanese single ‘STAY‘. This pop ballad is super romantic, with flawless falsettos and a soft acoustic guitar sound. Closing this release we get ‘Hello and Bye‘, a lovely ballad with beautiful orchestrations and dreamy singing. The perfect closure to this album.

HUTA as expected delivered an album that shows different sides of his music, ‘BOOM’ has something for every music taste. It is a very enjoyable and surprising listen. Make sure to check ‘BOOM’ by HUTA out here.
