[Review] GHOST9 – NOW: Who we are facing

GHOST9 is back with their next chapter of their series NOW. This time the idol group under Maroo Entertainment released the EP ‘NOW: Who we are facing‘. Its MELON description expresses that this release is about “(…)special encounters and the preciousness of this moment.”

We are curious to see how this 2020 rookie group will convey this message. Let’s start diving into the music in this EP.

NOW: Who we are facing

This EP starts off with the intro ‘Milestone‘ including some heavy EDM beats that fade slightly as the vocals are pushed into the spotlight. Even though this track in under fifty seconds it leaves an impression on listeners.

We go onto the title track ‘Control‘, this song includes a very cool piano arrangement that complements the beats fantastically. The vocals for this song are super cool and the same goes for the harmonization throughout this track.

For the MV they went for a rebellious concept, full of defiance and teen angst. The visuals are cool and kinda scary at times, and the full performance as expected is tight and clean. Check it below.

Heavy bass and a very trendy EDM arrangement take over in ‘TRIANGLE‘. The beats drops and changes of tempo in this song are super fun and keep the track really dynamic. It is a unique listen and I thoroughly enjoyed how well balanced the vocals were.

Lovely and playful melodies are present in ‘Love Language‘, this track is packed with perfectly done harmonizations and very carefree and youthful energy I found very cute.

Dreaming‘ follows up with a very soft pop tempo mixed with synth, once again harmonizations take over but this time make this song rather sentimental. The vocal line really stands out in this single and own most of it with clean high notes and a lot of feels.

Closing this EP we get ‘COSMOS‘, a pop-ballad with a hopeful and very positive vibe in it. This song was the perfect closure for this release, it was a totally clean end for a fun and well-rounded EP.
