Queendom 2 – Episode 3 Recap

Episode 3 of ‘Queendom Season 2’ is out, and this time we will be getting a “Song Cover Contest”, so let’s take a look at what happened with our recap.

The episode started off with all the groups reacting to their scores. With some disappointed and others even more eager to prove themselves. The first round wrapped up with Hyolyn topping the score chart by a large margin.

Celebrating her win, Hyolyn had a very cute zoom meeting with her team. The whole thing was very wholesome and they all seemed very excited for her (#SQUADGOALS).

The members of WJSN, who came in second place, were eager for the next performance. They’re hungry for that first place. VIVIZ are determined to climb higher and show people what they can really do. The girls from Kep1er were quite sad and were also hungry for a higher spot in the ranking.

The LOONA members were sad that they couldn’t perform, but they are going to aim for the best as they automatically ranked last. If they rank last in this round as well, they will be eliminated.

Queen Spoiler

We got the introduction to the Queen Spoiler. It’s a new segment where the groups have to choose a mission to get a teaser of a different group’s performance. The choices given were for choreo, outfits, song choice, props and one ‘to eat a healthy meal’. The last one is for when a group would rather not get a spoiler.

The girls from Kep1er, Brave Girls and WJSN all chose to see a snippet of the choreography. To get the snippet they had to play the ‘Finger of destiny’ game, where they had to turn around in circles until they were dizzy and then place their finger on a wheel divided into segments with seconds. Brave Girls and Kep1er got to see the full performance, whereas WJSN got the full performance minus 10 seconds.

By the end of this segment we get to see Brave Girls watching Kep1er’s choreo, WJSN choosing to watch VIVIZ’ choreo, and finally the members from Kep1er checking out LOONA’s choreography.

The girls from LOONA decided to go for a song spoiler, however, they failed at the “Shouting in Silence”, and didn’t get to listen, but left some hilarious and wholesome moments behind.

Both VIVIZ and Hyolyn chose ‘a chance to eat healthy’ as they wanted to focus on their own performance without any extra stress.

Queen Special Service

As Hyolyn won the first round, she got the Queen Special Service. Her waiting room for this round had a paradise buffet and a massage chair, and even called her family member to show what she had won. Wholesome!

Another perk of winning the first round was that she got to pick the order of the performances, and ended up with:

  1. WJSN
  2. LOONA
  3. Brave Girls
  4. VIVIZ
  5. Kep1er
  6. Hyolyn

The scoring system for this round stayed the same as the previous one, with 60% of votes coming from the live audience, 30% coming from the global vote and 10% of the votes coming from the groups’ own vote.

The audience has some very special guests with members from some of the groups from ‘Queendom’ season 1 and ‘KINGDOM’. There were members from the groups AOA, (G)I-DLE, ONEUS, Pentagon, TO1 and The Boyz.

The Performances

Opening the stages we got WJSN performing ‘NAVILLERA’ by GFRIEND, as they chose VIVIZ for the discography switch. During the preparation period, the members spoke about the broken sand timer incident, and even used it for inspiration. They turned the situation into something new that would show their resilience.

While practicing for their stage, they got a surprise visit from the MONSTA X members Joohoney and Hyungwon. The labelmates watched their practice video and gave them some helpful guidance, and Hyungwon even helped with Yeoreum’s solo dance. We love supporting Sunbaes!

The show started with a very cool witchy intro, and some awesome effects. For this version of ‘NAVILLERA’ they completely changed the original vibe, and went for darker aesthetics, and beautiful visuals.

The vocals were really beautiful, the choreo eye-catching,  and Yeoreum’s solo dance break went really well.

Loona

Next up were the girls from LOONA; starting off with the prep for their stage they had a lovely interaction with Hyolyn via video call and as their sunbae she offered her help.

The LOONA members did a run through SISTAR’s discography, and decided to go for the single ‘Shake It’. They got advice from Hyolyn in a very cute and wholesome private meeting.

Down to the performance we got a mix of musical theatre, retro and summer vibes, LOONA really went off and turned this legendary bop into a totally new song. Their choreography, use of props and stage was incredible for this performance, and they even did locking. Truly a legendary stage.

Brave Girls

Following up was Brave Girl, and we have to mention their hilarious chat about different versions of ‘WA DA DA’ but ultimately they chose ‘MVSK’. As three of the members tested positive for COVID-19, before the performance, the preparation for this round was a lot more challenging for them.

For this stage they chose a theme based on the movie ‘Now you see me’, but with a Robin Hood touch. Despite the issues, Brave Girls pulled through this stage with powerful visuals and a very dope EDM arrangement.

The members gave it all for the dance break, and their performance was packed with incredible surprises as it developed. Total legends!
