EP Review: Hoppipolla – Spring to Spring

Hoppipolla released their first mini-album ‘Spring to Spring’. If you have been checking this website you may have noticed that we are big fans of this indie band. Their artistry is beyond imagination and so is their talent.

They write and produce their own songs and they are just wholesome and adorable. So be ready for heavy fangirling.

Spring to Spring

Opfern’ and ‘About Time’ start off this EP. Both songs were released as singles last November and they are both masterpieces.

On one side ‘Opfern’ is filled with heavenly acoustics and it is an absorbing piece and an experience for listeners that enjoy hearing different sounds and instruments. ‘About Time’ however is full of angelic vocals with a more indie rock sound and a cello solo that will leave anyone speechless.

Marchen’ is next and this song feels like a life soundtrack. When I listened to it I felt transported to a different space. It is astonishingly beautiful and there is a lot happening acoustically but it is not overbearing. Instead, it is a piece that exudes calmness, beauty and enjoyment and it leaves you at peace with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

The title track for this mini-album ‘Enough’ comes next starting off with Jin-ho and one incredible cello solo. Hyung-sang and Jeong-hun’s vocals are harmoniously beautiful and a complete enjoyment to listeners. Check out the very wholesome and natural MV.

Our Song’ begins with a piano solo and evolves into this bewitching song with angelic vocals. I couldn’t help but notice how much Young-so’s guitar is present in this track and I fell in love with the way they layered and mixed it with the vocals.

Finishing this EP is ‘Sorang’ with a very romantic and soft vibe. It is a charming ballad that shows how talented this band is. And it also leaves the listeners wanting for more of their music.

Hoppipolla as usual did not disappoint and released a splendid mini-album that is just opening the door for what is next for this group. Listen to this EP below, and if you want to find more Indie/Rock bands you can check out our previous articles here.
