MV Recommendation: Stella Jang – Villain

For this week’s MV Recommendation I really wanted to feature Stella Jang (again, sorry). This time for her latest release ‘Villain’, because it’s so damn awesome.

The song’s a complete bop, despite the rather bitter message. We’re all villains, pretending to be good. I wonder what was going on in her life for her to come up with such a message, not saying I completely disagree. However, this is not a philosophical debate.

Let’s talk about the music video for ‘Villain’.

Her outfits are amazing, and I kind of really want those red sunglasses she has. The usual quirkiness that we’re used to is there and I’m so happy that she’s holding on to that style. One of the interesting bits in the MV is when she’s portraying ‘Madonna’ and I don’t mean 90s icon Madonna, but the actual mother of Jesus. It’s awesome and I’ve never really seen that done before in a music video.

Then there’s also the Maleficent style horns that look adorable on her. I’m sure that’s not what was intended, but CUTE.

I also wanted to point out the moment at 1:44 in the video where Stella Jang is singing ‘so many shades of gray’ and there’s the actual Pantone gray color cards popping out. I thought that was super smart.

If you would like to discover more music by Stella Jang, feel free to click here. I’m pretty much in love with her entire discography. I’ve linked her Spotify profile here, so you can go check her music out.
