EP Review: DKB – YOUTH

Alright so we have a debut fresh out of the oven, I’m talking about DKB with their debut EP ‘YOUTH’. DKB is a brand new boy group under Brave Entertainment. The members had a hand in writing every song, including the composition. So stan talent y’all.

‘YOUTH’

We start the EP off with an intro ‘YOUTH’ named after the EP. It’s just under 2 minutes but I feel like it immediately sets the tone for the entire thing. It’s a groovy, cool instrumental with really great rapping skills on top of it.

Then we go over to the title track ‘Sorry Mama’. And it is so freaking cool!! It is going into all my playlists, even the classical music one. It’s fantastic! The MV is super dope as well. It’s retro, and the members are alls pitting fire.

With ‘Go Up’ we’re already halfway through the EP. This feels a lot more playful in comparison with the earlier tracks. There are sound effects from video games littered through the song, finding them is like a game itself. The focus is more on the vocals in ‘Go Up’, and I totally need this song to go up the charts.

‘Elevator’ had me hooked from the very first second. Hello, smooth Latin influences. This is groovy, and it feels sexy.

We close the EP off with the song ‘Samsung’. This sounds a lot more aggressive but I dig it. It goes back and forth between playful and aggressive and I’m pretty sure I got whiplash.

DKB did a fantastic job with their debut EP ‘YOUTH’. It’s super solid and if they do well with the live shows, I’m sure that they have a very successful future ahead of them. Also if they can collab with MCND, that’d be a dream. Go follow them on Twitter.

The EP isn’t on Spotify yet, but you can listen to the full thing here.

Update: I found it on Spotify! Click here to listen to the full EP.
