Actor Spotlight: Kim Ji Hyun

We’re back with a new Actor Spotlight and this time I really wanted to take a closer look at Kim Ji Hyun and her filmography.

I started watching ‘Thirty-Nine’ and I absolutely love Kim Ji Hyun’s character. Her slight naïveté is charming and I love how she portrays her role’s multiple dimensions.

Ji Hyun is mostly known as a musical actress, for this we’re limiting the article to her presence in K-dramas and films.

Debut

Her very first role was in the 2006 film ‘Solace’. Then a couple years later she had the supporting role of Kim Mi-Sun in the drama ‘Cooking up Romance’.

In 2010 she was in the educational film ‘My Sister’s March’ which commemorates the Masan Protest.

In 2014 she starred in the drama special ‘I’m Dying Soon’.

From 2017 onwards she had more acting credits. She had multiple guest roles in big shows like ‘Prison Playbook’, ‘The Smile Has Left Your Eyes’, ‘Romance is a bonus book’ and ‘Nokdu Flower’.

Kim Ji Hyun also had roles in ‘Backstreet Rookie’, ‘Hometown Cha Cha Cha’ and ‘Artificial City’.

This year she has her first main role in the K-drama ‘Thirty-Nine’ where we follow the story of three best friends. I’m not that far in yet, but I’ve already bawled my eyes out.

She does such an excellent job here, I’m sure that she’ll get plenty of roles where she can show her talents on the big and small screen. I do have to say I’m very curious to hear her sing, but I might have to go see her in a play when I ever visit Korea.

Go follow her on Instagram here.
