[Review] NCT 127 – BLINGY

NCT 127 are back with a new album celebrating their 10th anniversary. Their 7th album, ‘Blingy’, is described as a celebration of Neo Culture Technology, and NCT 127 are about as NEO as it gets. This is their first comeback in a while, and we are EXCITED about it.

Let’s dive right in and check out what the Neos have prepared.

BLINGY

The release kicks off with the title track, ‘Blingy‘, and the members totally go off with a hip-hop track packed with heavy EDM elements and a high dose of the NEO factor. This song is packed with hype, featuring fantastic rap sections from Taeyong, Johnny, and Jaehyun, while Yuta and Haechan complement them with their vocals. A total vibe and an epic comeback for NCT 127.

Legacy‘ is up next, keeping us on hip-hop vibes but bringing a smoother arrangement with a very cool progression, drops, and transitions. The distorted sections are particularly dope, while the backing-vocal choir elevates the track even further.

The pre-released single ‘Piñata‘ takes over next. This track is a total hype-maker, combining rock-driven instrumentation with a hip-hop core. Its intensity and killer flow immediately set the mood for this comeback, and we are totally obsessed with it!

Step Up‘ takes over next with old-school hip-hop beats, an irresistible lyrical flow, and sharp sectioning. We loved how 90s-edgy this single feels and how effortlessly cool the members sound throughout the track.

Playful beats kick off ‘IKR‘, delivering alternative but fun beat arrangements. The arcade-like synth is incredibly fun, while the rap sections from Haechan and Yuta are absolutely killer. We loved how alternative, fun, and extremely NEO this single feels.

Indie pop takes center stage in ‘Getaway‘, and we LOVED this sound from NCT 127. It is effortlessly cool and incredibly catchy, with a chill beat, a touch of retro, and a funky flair that makes this one of our top-tier NCT 127 B-sides.

Day After Day‘ changes gears with a hyper-trap hip-hop sound that leans on the softer side without losing its expected sharpness. This single feels slightly nostalgic thanks to its arrangement and layering, while the melodic rapping makes it even more emotional and warm.

127 Million Miles‘ is up next, bringing all the members together, including Doyoung and Jungwoo, for a beautiful pop-rock single. The incredible vocals and lighthearted touch totally blessed our ears. Just stunning.

The final track on the release is ‘I Mean, It’s About Time‘, combining lyrical strings with 90s hip-hop beats. The intro feels raw before the song gradually develops into an emotionally charged track with stunning instrumentation and an ending that leaves listeners with a lingering feeling.

NCT 127 are back, and this release marks the beginning of a brand-new era for the group. We are excited to see how their career continues to evolve as a seven-member group. Make sure to stream this album and experience ‘Blingy’ for yourself!
