Chaeyoung from TWICE released her first mini-album ‘LIL FANTASY vol.1’ and we’re beyond stoked so let’s dive right in!
LIL FANTASY vol.1
We start off with the pre-released ‘AVOCADO’ featuring Gliiico.
After that comes ‘BAND AID’. According to the album description this “a story about contacting someone you’ll never see again, with absurd excuses.” It’s an R&B track with a really sick bass and a languid progression. It’s lovely!
Next up is the title track ‘SHOOT (Firecracker)’. It’s a very retro track that is absolutely adorable and shozs her aspirations for her future career.
‘GIRL’ is a song about the quiet, introverted girls who have a hard time expressing themselves. I liked the instrumental layering, there’s a really cool guitar riff happening in the background.
Next up is ‘RIBBON’ featuring SUMIN and Jibin of Y2K92. I’m really digging the hyperpop moment. It’s a cool girl energy that only Chaeyoung can pull off. It’s dope. Also the team-up is god tier.
‘DOWNPOUR’ featuring Kai is a synth pop track with cool sound effects and compares love to the rainy season.
‘BF’ is a track Chaeyoung made when she was bored at home, reminiscing about her friendships in life. It’s a short synth pop moment.
‘Shadow Puppets (그림자 놀이)’ is rather sad track where she felt like she was a shadow and got quite emotional during recording. I really enjoyed the vocal mixing in this one and the EDM like outro.
We’re closing off with ‘내 기타’. This track she sang solo during their world tour.
Go ahead and listen to ‘LIL FANTASY vol.1’ by Chaeyoung on Spotify here. Honestly this is a very cool album with a unique sound and a dope execution.
