HyunA&DAWN are back again and this time they joined forces to drop the EP ‘1+1=1‘. DAWN’s collab for HyunA’s latest release was one of our favourite songs. This duo is powerful and complement each others’ music style to perfection.
‘1+1=1‘ is their first joint project under PNATION and we are expecting nothing but great music and killer visuals. Let’s start.
1+1=1
We start off with ‘Deep Dive‘, DAWN opens this song with his usual killer rapping. What I like the most in this single was the harmonization and how their vocals are so effortlessly good together. This single felt too short but it was a great opening for this EP.
We go onto the title track ‘PING PONG‘, from the sneak peeks we were waiting an over the top sound with catchy lyrics. They delivered!! This song is everything we expected with a crazily good composition that is uncommon and very unique, the mix of genres and instruments for this single is super good, an eleven out of ten.
Just when you think this song could not get any better, the music video comes along with some crazy but super good visuals, colourful sets and great camera work. This MV definitely goes in for “La Vida Loca”.
A mix of pop and funk come along in ‘XOXO‘, and take over for a retro sound with a lot of groove. The guitar in this track is SMOOTH and HyunA’s falsettos perfection.
Last on this release is ‘I Know‘, and I have to mention how versatile HyunA and DAWN’s vocal range is, they sound incredible in this track. They go from soft singing to rapping in a snap and it is just too good.
HyunA and DAWN delivered a unique release with a variety of sound that stayed in line with their multifaceted musical identity. This release was fantastic and very enjoyable to listen to.
