[Review] Lee Hi – 4 ONLY

Our girl Lee Hi is back with her new album ‘4 ONLY’. This is her first album under her new label AOMG. Let’s dive right in, because I have very high expectations.

4 ONLY

We start off with ‘Savior’ featuring B.I. This was pre-released last week. This is such a great R&B single with outstanding vocals, a great rap verse by B.I and stunning music video.

Next up is ‘Intentions’. We start off really bluesy. What a super soft track that begs for a live performance in a dark, smokey club. This is so dope. Lee Hi’s velvety vocals fit this genre so well. Check out the translated lyrics as well.

‘Waterride’ follows that with some major groove. This is straight up fire and the snaps they added are so cool. I’m utterly in love with the bass in the instrumentation. That instrumental solo had me ascend straight to heaven.

After that we get ‘Bye’. Lee Hi is credited as lyricist on this one. It’s a funky pop track. Again, the instrumentation is fantastic. The piano is a wonderful addition. I love how soft Lee Hi’s vocals are.

Next up

Next up is the title track ‘Red Lipstick’ featuring the iconic Yoon Mi Rae. This is a retro bop that will have you grooving in no time. What a great collab! Two power women together, what more can you want.

‘H.S.K.T’ featuring Wonstein opens with a super sensual intro. Lee Hi is almost whispering. It’s crazy that a song about ‘head shoulders knees and toes’ can become such an dope track. Wonstein is a great addition and he shines in his verse.

After that we get ‘Safety Zone’. This is another great R&B track with some very smooth instrumentation. I really enjoyed the samples they used. Code Kunst co-composed and arranged this one.

‘What is love?’ is a soft R&B where Lee Hi’s vocals take the center stage. It’s absolutely wonderful. Lee Hi is credited as the lyricist.

Next up is ‘Darling’. Again, solely written by Lee Hi, we get a more dramatic track. This one hits hard with each beat. The electric guitar in the back is going off and really elevates the full instrumental. It’s dope.

The last track is the pre-released ‘ONLY’ which we wrote about here. I’ve been utterly obsessed by this song since it came out.

Overall, ‘4 ONLY’ by Lee Hi is an outstanding release. The album is very cohesive, yet every song offers a different genre or perspective. Honestly, this is amazing.
