Ah, the season of romance and candy hearts is almost upon us! You can practically hear the Hallmark cards flying off the shelves. I don’t think Saint Valentine could ever imagine *this* would be how we remember him, but here we are. Plus, think of all the chocolate!
Today we decided to bring you an ultra sweet selection of romance Webtoons, but where to even start? We got your back! Handpicked romance series, from relative newcomers, to true and tried Webtoon staples.
True Beauty by Yaongyi
Also known as the ‘Goddess’ Advent’, this series centers around Jugyeong, an average looking, horror manga fan, who becomes a make-up expert by watching YouTube videos and transforms into a certifiable goddess. There are cute boys (*any resemblance to BTS members purely… intentional, the author is a huge ARMY*), there’s comedy, there’s romance, and the ships are intense.
You can’t really have a romance Webtoon *anything* and not mention True Beauty. Classic rom-com vibes, this is now also a major drama series. The Webtoon however is still ongoing. At this stage I’m not sure who I’m even shipping!
Siren’s Lament by instantmiso
Lyra’s life was not complicated. Working at her grandma’s flower shop, quietly pining for childhood friend Shon… When a twist of fate got her entangled with the siren’s curse, her life and her world became so much bigger and complicated. Will she be able to break the curse once and for all?
We’ve featured this excellent series before, and it still tops the charts in my book. Now completed, you can binge away to your heart’s content. Amazing main character? Mermaids? Gorgeous boys, ahem, art? Love triangles? Check, and check.
Let’s Play by Mongie
Sam is young, socially awkward, and has just published her first indie game as a solo developer. But then life throws her a one-two punch: a popular streamer gives her first game a scathing review. Even worse she finds out that same troublesome critic is now her new neighbor! A funny, sexy and all-too-real story about gaming, memes and social anxiety. Come for the plot, stay for the doggo.
Ship whoever you want, we all know Bowser is the real endgame❤️. Best doggo. This series is solid on all fronts, romance, character development, humor, relatable gamer feels… It’s definitely one to read if you’re not already doing so!
The Kiss Bet by Ingrid Ochoa
Sara Lin just started her senior year. She’s got great friends, a cool Dad (or so he thinks) and a whole lot ahead of her. The last thing she needs is to worry about having her first kiss. But that’s all about to change because her good pal Patrick just challenged her to a bet that will either lead to love, heartbreak or embarrassment…or maybe all three.
If you enjoy a good high school rom-com, this is the Webtoon for you! The art, the characters, the plot, are all adorable fluff, all around. Ah, youth!
Secret Playlist by 2F
Hanju is just an ordinary university student… except she’s also a popular Metube (lol) cover artist, ‘PLII’. When popular boy group member Levi takes notice of PLII and requests to collaborate, Hanju has to put work hard to hide her secret identity. But as luck would have it, Levi happens to attend the same university, and the two grow closer working on a class project. Will her secret be discovered?
And most importantly, will she come to face the music (pun intended), and figure out her own feelings towards her side-gig? That’s what I’d like to know. I love the romance development, but mostly I stan Hanju’s straightforward way of acting. She’s not in the least your run-of-the-mill romance MC, and she’s not just thinking only when the plot needs her to.
Love Me Knot by Sophia
What if there truly were red strings of fate, tying soulmates together? And what if you could see them, but your own was not attached to anyone on the other side? For Avery, romance is complicated. Will she continue to give up on love or will she tailor her own?
I cannot begin to express how much I love this series! The premise truly sets high expectations, and the way Avery’s character grows, and her perspective begins to change, delivers. Slowly changing her attitude from ‘why should I bother dating when I’m not this person’s soulmate’, to allowing herself feelings is just *chef’s kiss*. It’s a slice of life romance, but the red strings and their implications make it profound. 100% give it a read.
Brass & Sass by antlerella
Camilla joined the school band on a whim after hearing the school’s Jazz Band perform. It may have been the music that attracted her to band class, but it was love that made her stay…even if she doesn’t have any musical talent whatsoever. But what high schooler Camilla lacks in ability, she makes up for in passion – both when it comes to Victor, the handsome musician who’s caught her eye, and Kind Corn, her beloved trumpet. Will love rule the day, even when your crush-of-choice is a real brass-hole?
The reason I love Camilla as a heroine is because she’s so aware of her own shortcomings, but it doesn’t let that put her down nor douse her fire. Excellent characterization, and personal growth for not just the heroine, but all of the main cast. Come for the free music lesson, stay for the incredible cast dynamics.
And that’s it, here you have it, several brilliant romance Webtoons to keep your heart aflutter. Enjoy ❤️
