[Time Capsule] Younha – Comet

For this week’s blast from the past we’re listening to Younha’s ‘Comet‘. It’s the perfect tune to get you out of a slump. It has this feeling of abundant youthful energy, it just makes you want to start running or something. At the very least it will put a smile on your face 🙂

Younha

Today one of Korea’s foremost singer-songwriters, it might be easy to forget that Younha actually debuted first in Japan, in 2004. I read that she started learning Japanese after watching ‘Gokusen’ and I *cannot overstate* how much I love that drama, I love her even more now. ‘Houki Boshi‘ was her second single and it was a massive success. It was later included in her first studio album, Go! Younha’. She became the 2nd ever Korean artist to break into the Oricon Top 20, certainly no mean feat.

She officially debuted in Korea in 2006. Soon after, her first Korean album ‘The Perfect Day to Say I Love You’, reached the top of the charts right off the bat. Since then she’s remained a -mostly- consistent presence, and released many memorable songs along the way. My most recent obsession (and yes, I know it’s already two years old, sue me) was her collaboration with RM, ‘Winter Flower’.

‘Comet’

Anime fans will certainly have no problem recognizing this energetic tune; The original Japanese version, ‘Houki Boshi’ (= Falling Star) was featured as the 3rd ending song of top series ‘Bleach‘, all the way back in 2005. ‘Comet‘ is essentially the Korean version of the song. It served as the title track for the complete Korean remake of Younha’s ‘Go! Younha album in 2007.

Let’s dive in to the positive vibes! Enjoy 🙂
