[Review] WOODZ – EQUAL

WOODZ is back with his new mini-album ‘EQUAL’. As most of us know, he was supposed to be promoting with X1, but that didn’t exactly turn out well. Regardless, we’ve been waiting for new content from WOODZ because his solo work is excellent. Let’s dive in!

EQUAL

The opening track is ‘LIFT UP’. Holy moly, what a hard opening! Then we slide right into his beautiful R&B vocals. The chorus hits even harder because WOW! The little flute in the background is a very nice addition to the beats. This song honestly has an amazing replay value.

Next up is ‘Accident’. We’re already two songs in, but I’m already impressed. The fact that this track comes right after ‘LIFT UP’ wasn’t an accident. It has a somewhat similar opening that immediately grabs the attention and then displays some epic vocals. I really need a live version of this.

After that we get the title track ‘Love Me Harder’ which came with a brand new music video.

The opening whistle already had me vibing to this track. What a fun title track! It’s a little bit softer than the previous songs and a lot more groovy. I’m totally digging it!

‘NOID’ follows with a more electronic vibe. Though that shifts to a more funky instrumentation later on. WOODZ’ falsetto is just so, so good. The bridge is fantastic and feels very dreamy.

We get our first feature with Colde on the song ‘Waikiki’. Colde co-wrote and co-composed this track and I can really tell the influence. It feels a lot more lo-fi hip hop than the previous tracks. What a dream team!

The second feature on the mini-album is from none other than Punchnello! The song ‘BUCK’ starts with a little film fragment. The rap slides from whisper rapping that gives you chills to hardcore fire that almost gave me a heart attack.

Get ready for some major emotional whiplash with the last track ‘memories’ because we’re going full-blown ballad. The guitar solo has my entire heart and when the vocals were layered I got shivers. What a beautiful, sentimental song that leaves you wanting more.

Overall

‘EQUAL’ by WOODZ is an amazing diverse mini-album to displays his beautiful vocals and his amazing rap talent.
