[Review] TXT – The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE

Tomorrow X Together (aka. TXT) is back with their second album ‘The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE‘ and a brand new era. The preview for this release looked incredible, and we are expecting great music and stunning visuals.

The storyline for this era looks extremely interesting, the MELON description describes the series as the story of a boy/s whose world has changed drastically and him/them trying to adjust to these sudden changes.

We can’t wait to listen to the music behind this story, let’s dive in!

The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE

Some very dope harmonizations start off ‘Anti-Romantic‘, and I am living for the chill vibes in this electronic pop track. The members’ vocals sound insanely good in this track, but an honorable mention goes to Taehyun’s singing, it stood out for me with that airy feel in his delivery.

The title track for this release ‘0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)‘ featuring Seori, plays next. This song had me shocked as soon as it played. The pop-rock mix sound is brand new in TXT’s discography, the pre-chorus reminded me a lot of early 2000s rock bands with the beat drop and the vocalization. This song was an amazing choice as title track, it stands out.

The music video follows the story of the members in an adventure leaded by Yeonjun, the music video has several references to the storyline they described in the album review. It’s absolutely worth checking out and paying close attention to the details. Watch it below.

We get ready to jam with ‘Magic‘ and its disco sound. Entirely sung in English. This song is the shot of energy and positive vibes we all need. The chorus is super catchy, and I loved its wholesomeness.

Next up

Co-writen by Soobin and with a very addictive synth base we get ‘Ice Cream‘. This song is lighthearted with a super fun and funky rhythm. It is the type of track that puts a smile on the listener’s face.

With enhanced vocals and a more hip-hop rooted sound we get ‘What if I had been that PUMA‘, the members Yeonjun, Taehyun and Beomgyu participated in the writing of the lyrics for this song. This track is a lot more experimental and very new to TXT’s discography, definitely an interesting and cool addition to this release.

This album gets funky with ‘No Rules‘. The track is a hype song and the members killed it with the harmonizations. TXT did a fantastic job with this B-side, its groovy feeling is amazing and the rap was killer. What makes it better? Some of the members participated in the lyrics writing. The Talent!

We get a punk-rock vibe with ‘Dear Sputnik‘. Taehyun participated in the composing and writing of the lyrics and Huening Kai worked on the producing. This track is an anthem, and I need to see the band performance, the electric guitar in the pre-chorus is just SO GOOD! It’s teenage angst at its best.

Closing this release we get ‘Frost‘, this track is an EPIC way to close this release, with a dark feel and a heavy bass. The song develops in an intense way, the chorus is powerful and leaves a super strong impression. It makes total sense considering Ashnikko is credited as one of the artists to work on ‘Frost’. What a piece of Art!

Final Thoughts

TXT went off with ‘The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE’, and offered an outstanding album that is unique and fresh. They explored different sounds and styles and killed it for all of them. I will definitely have the album on repeat for a while.
