[Review] The Rose – HEAL

The Rose is back with their album ‘HEAL’. Let’s dive right in, because we’ve been really looking forward to this one.

HEAL

We start off with the super soft intro ‘~‘. This creates such a wonderful, soft soundscape. I love it. Just take a moment to catch your breath and relax.

‘Definition of ugly is‘ one gut-wrenching song. If you have ever felt insecure, you’ll be able to relate. You can find the translated lyrics here. The vocals were a punch in the gut while the guitar solo had me in a chokehold. I’m an emotion wreck. What an amazing track!

After that comes the pre-released song ‘Childhood’ which we wrote about here.

‘Shift’ is one of those songs that’ll be a huge comfort. This soft pop rock track has some very nice synth sounds and a lovely balance between vocals and instrumentals.

Next up

‘Cure’ has one of those choruses that you shout along to as loud as you can. I can just imagine the chills you would get when you hear this live. I’m still bitter that I didn’t manage to get tickets to their Europe shows.

‘See-Saw’ is another one of those gut-wrenching songs. The violins added really enhance the emotional mood, along with the more intimate, whispered vocals. It really feels like a confessional you whisper at the darkest of night.

The next track is ‘TIME’. This is a lovely pop rock track! I really enjoyed how they played with brief pauses, it made what followed even more impactful.

The only feature follows that. ‘Yes’ featuring James Reid, a Filipino artist is a fun vibe. Let’s fall in love together and just chase the sunset.

‘Sour’ is the title track of this album. Can I just say, damn! What an exquisite title track. I love the chorus and the guitars really went off in the bridge. I love the way they added a bit of synth to the instrumentals.

Also the music video is pretty cool! I really love the colouring.

The closing track is the outro ‘-‘. This instrumental track really lets you catch your breath again and begs for the loop with the intro.
