[Review] Sell Your Haunted House

We’re back with a new K-drama Review, this time we’re sharing the KBS drama ‘Sell Your Haunted House’.

The series was written by Ha Soo-Jin, Lee Young-Hwa, Jung Yeon-Seo and directed by Park Jin-Suk. ‘Sell Your Haunted House’ was aired from April till June last year.

Plot

‘Sell Your Haunted House’ is about a real estate agency that sells haunted houses after exorcizing the ghosts that linger in the buildings. The exorcist and main character is Hong Ji-A portrayed by Jang Na-Ra who you might know from ‘You are my destiny’ and ‘The Last Empress’.

Hong Ji-A is the daughter of an entire line of exorcists and has tragically lost her mother when she was young. The ghost of her mother haunts the agency where Ji-A lives still. Ji-A herself is unable to exorcize her.

She runs Daebak Realty with her mother’s friend Joo Hwa-Jung played by the wonderful Kang Mal-Geum

The duo meets another duo who are up to no good. The two scammers Oh In-Bum and Heo Ji-Chul scam people by making them believe their house is haunted and then vanquishing the spirits. They play with the electricity or edit ghosts into security footage to make people believe in the ghosts and then they sell them fake gadgets that get rid of the spirit.

Oh In-Bum played by Jung Yong-Hwa accidentally discovers that he might actually be a medium and not just a fraudster while meeting Hong Ji-A. They also realize that their past is much more tied together than they originally thought. Daebaek Realty hires the two fraudsters to help with the exorcisms as Oh In-Bum is actually helpful and helps Ji-A’s body temperature to stay high.

Overall

‘Sell Your Haunted House’ is a fun and well thought-out show. The stories and ghosts they vanquish have interesting stories and can be quite heartbreaking. They both show stories of great evil and great sadness.

Jang Na-Ra is absolutely amazing in the series. I love her character’s strength and sense of fashion. Na-Ra really acted her heart out in the series and the scenes between daughter and mother are utterly gut wrenching.

Na-Ra and In-Bum have a really cute chemistry together but I like the fact that there is hardly any romance to speak of. The two main characters have too much to deal with to focus on romance and that’s totally valid.

If you’re into very human stories despite all of the ghosts, go ahead and watch the trailer below.
