[Review] PSY – PSY 9th

K-pop legend and icon PSY is back with a brand new album ‘PSY 9th’. it’s been a few years since he blessed listeners with his amazing bops, and we are excited to hear what he has prepared.

The teasers for this release screamed nothing but ICONIC, and we are excited to check it out. Let’s dive in.

PSY 9th

Starting off we get ‘9INTRO‘, a song that serves as a taster for what its next. This song screams PSY in every single beat. It is a total party banger that will have you hyped up.

Next up is the title track featuring and produced by none other than SUGA from BTS. ‘That That‘ is a total anthem to hype crowds, its riff and vibe is the full package. The catchiness of this song is insane, and I loved every single beat in it.

For the music video we go cowboy style but PSY’s style, get ready for eccentric visual and a unique style. Yoongi’s vibe was absolutely amazing in the MV and they both killed it with the catchy choreo (I can see a TikTok challenge coming). Check it below.

Celeb‘ takes over and I absolutely loved the quirkiness and style in this song. The sax riff and unique style had me jamming to it from start to end. ‘You Move Me‘ featuring Sung Si Kyung follows up with a pop style and PSY killing it with his rapping, the vocals and orchestration in this track are amazing. It is an absolute smooth listen.

Heize is featured in ‘Sleepless‘ and as expected this single takes a more soft R&B style. It is not the typical hype track by PSY but definitely a new colour and feel that I loved listening to.

Iconic comeback

EDM beats and a lot of swag come along with ‘GANJI‘ featuring our queen Jessi. As expected this song goes hard and becomes absolutely iconic with the rapping and flow. ‘Now‘ comes next and this time we get none other than Hwasa as feature, with a disco style and awesome harmonisations this song is a total banger to heat the dance floor up. It screams legendary in every second of it.

With Crush as feature we get ‘Happier‘, a single with a lot more feel and a rather sentimental style. This song is for the heart and listeners you need to take it all in. Absolutely beautiful.

Hello Monday‘ follows up to brighten the mood with catchy tunes and an immaculate vibe. The guitar riff and vocal flow was fantastic and the piano instrumentation smooth.

EDM takes over in ‘Everyday‘ and this song is a party banger. With a Tomorrowland-like style this song had me absolutely hyped up. The beat drops and full layering in this song is SO GOOD. If you are into house music and EDM this track is for you.

Epik High’s TABLO is featured in ‘forEVER‘, this song takes a more sentimental style and it is a bit of a soft listen. PSY’s vocals and TABLO’s rapping are a fantastic mix and made this single a very easy listen.

Closing up this album we get ‘Dear Me‘ coming along as the perfect end single for this highly expected release, I really liked how much of an end concert style this song has. It is fun and at the same time it feels like the perfect end.

PSY did it again and dropped an ICONIC comeback, all the years of waiting were worth it. He delivered a song for every mood and they are all just fantastic. Check this release here.
