[Review] PENTAGON – WE:TH

The boys from PENTAGON are back with their new mini-album ‘WE:TH’. We’ve been really excited for this one, because they never fail to deliver.

WE:TH

We start off the mini-album with the song ‘Daisy’. I’m really digging the slight rock vibes. This sound really fits them so well. This break-up song is stunning and the vocals really deliver. I also really enjoyed the way they played with the silence. The bridge is EVERYTHING.

Next up is the single ‘Beautiful Goodbye’. We get some amazing harmonies right from the bat, which I love. So far I really dig the cohesiveness of the sound of both this song and their title track. Wooseok’s rap really shot the intensity up.

The third track is ‘Nostalgia’. Wooseok wrote the lyrics and co-composed this one. This song is such an easy, smooth listen and the rhythm just feels so nice. The piano helps tremendously.

After that we get the track ‘You Like’. Apart from being utterly shook after the first couple of seconds. I was not expecting that sudden change in tone and genre. Though for some reason I feel like that’s a very PENTAGON thing to do. It reminds me a lot of first and second gen and I’m 100% in for it.

We close the mini with the song ‘Paradise’. This is old school electronic pop at its finest. That bridge is excellent and I really dig the heavy bass. This is the perfect closing song for ‘WE:TH’.

There’s also a CD-exclusive single. Jinho, one of the members who recently joined the army for the mandatory enlistment, has a solo.
