[Review] Park Jihoon – THE ANSWER

Park Jihoon is back with his sixth mini-album ‘THE ANSWER‘ after almost a year since his last release. With this EP he wants to show his “mature charm and musical growth” and we are very curious to see what he has prepared for the fans.

Let’s dive right in.

THE ANSWER

The intro single ‘Silence‘ begins this EP on a very mysterious and cool note. The dark feel in this song builds up expectations and its up-beat R&B tempo makes it even cooler.

Right after the title track ‘NITRO‘ begins with a synthwave genre and retro sound. The musical build-up for the chorus is fantastic, and his mix of vocals and rapping are an excellent contrast in this song. The music video for this track is angsty but with clean visuals. Jihoon goes on an adventure around the world for this single, and becomes several characters, a total movie. Watch it below.

Moon&Back‘ takes over with an immaculate soft R&B style and delicate singing. His harmonisations in this single are flawless and rather elegant and the dreamy feel going on in this single make sit an amazing single.

With a mix of synth and R&B we get the single ‘Frame‘, this track has a sexy groove that had me vibing to it. Jihoon’s rapping really delivers in this song and the musical build up throughout the full track is fantastic.

Bringing a pop twist to this EP ‘Don’t Tell Anyone‘ follows up. For this song we get a lovely guitar sound and bright feel that had me vibing to it. Playing last is ‘Midnight‘, this synth-pop has an amazing arrangement that reminded a lot to city-pop. A total cool ending to this well-rounded release.
