The girls from OH MY GIRL are back with the album ‘Real Love’. Let’s take a closer look to see which vibe they’re going for.
Real Love
This title track is super interesting. ‘Real Love’ has an interesting flow with a lot of dynamic pauses and a relatively light instrumentation but the bass and the brass make it SUPER dope. This summer track is a vibe and the groove is unmistakable. The vocals are great and I would genuinely enjoy listening to a more stripped down version of this so I can properly focus.
All the members look absolutely amazing in the MV. You know how crazy commercials for perfumes can get because they can’t make you smell perfume through video? I feel like it’s using the same energy to create stunning scenery.
‘Drip’ is such an insane song. The genre switch ups are everything! It’s dope and flows together well and despite all of the different genres feeling like different sections, they still feel like part of the same song. It’s awesome. I NEED to see a choreo for this.
Next up is ‘EDEN’ and this takes us somewhere else entirely. This slow pop ballad has a lovely acoustic guitar that sets the tempo. This is so nice and makes for a nice break. The pre-chorus is delightful and is an interesting way to build tension. The way they layered the vocal samples is really, really cool.
‘Replay’ takes us clubbing. Grab your friends, drink some champagne and go vibe in a club while wearing your best fits. The EDM is so DOPE and the members’ vocals are soft and sultry. Legit I can see this being played during festivals or clubs. The BEAT is hella cool.
Next up
After that we get ‘Parachute’ which is more the oldschool Oh My Girl we know. It’s fun, cute and the vocals are light and sweet. The chorus is catchy and the instrumentals make this a happy summer vibe.
‘Kiss & Fix’ is a song about an AI who made the mistake of falling in love. It’s cute and tragic and I love their vocals so much in this. It’s a lovely track and I kind of hope they make an MV for this. It’d be an interesting watch. The swooping synth in the bridge was a nice touch.
We start with some fun chanting in ‘Blink’. I LOVE this song so much. It’s fun, poppy, catchy and has a cute vibe. The chanting makes this so cheerful and the little ‘shoobidoo wow’ is a free shot of serotonin and absolutely will make you smile.
‘Dear Rose’ follows next and I’m all for the layering in this. The way their voices blend so seamlessly together is such a treat for the ears. Be prepared for happiness.
The last track is ‘Sailing Heart’ and is a ballad that will have you feel mellow and warm. The ballad is a love song to the fans. MonoTree wrote and co-composed the song.
Overall
I’m super impressed by ‘Real Love’ by OH MY GIRL. This was a super solid release with uncountable bops and such a cornucopia of genres. The full album will be replayed for a while.
