[Review] NCT 127 – Favorite

It’s been less than a month since their last release, but once again NCT 127 is back with their third album repackage ‘Favorite‘. This group works hard, and in every comeback they have something new and interesting for fans. It’s been a very busy year in the NCT-verse, and we are not complaining.

This repackage album includes the three new tracks ‘Favorite‘, ‘Love On The Floor‘ and ‘Pilot‘, and by the teaser we are expecting a vampire concept and the usual outstanding visuals of NCT. Let’s start.

Favorite

NCT 127 title tracks tend to go hard and leave fans shook, ‘Favorite‘ as expected goes this way, but I have to say I was very surprised by the R&B pop style of this track. It is probably one of the softest title tracks I have listened to since the ‘Touch’ era and it has an old kpop feel that I LOVED.

This song also has its out of the box sound, especially in the little breaks and change of tempos where it becomes a bit more Hip-Hop-ish. The pre-bridge dance break completely surprised me, unexpected but very interesting.

The music video’s concept is all about vampires, fangs and some very dope styling. The special effects in this MV are dramatic and super cool, and the choreo as usual sharp and on point. Watch it below.

Old school R&B/Hip-Hop comes along in ‘Love On The Floor‘, I loved this track. The harmonizations and style is super good and the beat fantastic. The balance between vocals and rapping is just right. The vocal line stood out for me in this song, the instrumentation added in this single mixed with their singing was an absolute experience.

The last new track in this repackage album is ‘Pilot‘, this song screams NCT 127 b-side in every second of it. It is chill, groovy and has this unique feel that had me vibing to this song since the beginning.
