[Review] Kang Seung Yoon – PAGE 2

WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon is back with his new solo album ‘PAGE 2’, marking his long-awaited return after a bit of a long break. Known for his distinct tone and genre versatility, Seung Yoon once again proves why he’s one of the most expressive vocalists in K-pop. Let’s dive in!

PAGE 2

The title track ‘ME’ opens this release on a pop-rock note with soft vocals and fantastic layering. The use of silence within the song’s progression is clever and impactful, creating a balance between calm and intensity. The synth beats subtly elevate the track, a sweet and refreshing start.

‘FOLLOW ME’ follows with acoustic guitars and crisp vocals that feel genuine to Yoon’s signature sound. The song’s arrangement grows beautifully with rich ad-libs and dynamic instrumentals, creating a track that feels authentic and free-spirited.

Next is ‘Love Play’ (feat. Seulgi) a soft indie-pop gem with charming harmonies and dreamy textures. Seung Yoon and Seulgi’s voices complement each other effortlessly, creating a gentle and heartwarming listen.

‘Seven Days’ shifts toward a sentimental rock vibe, spotlighting Yoon’s vocal power against live-band instrumentals. There’s a nostalgic feel in its flow that pulls listeners in.

We move into tender territory with ‘S.A.D’, a delicate acoustic ballad filled with emotion. This track feels intimate and mature, a side of Yoon that shines through in his soft vocal tones and heartfelt delivery.

‘PICK YOU UP’ (feat. Eun Jiwon) continues the acoustic feel with elegant piano layers and near-ballad pacing, bringing out a warm emotional contrast between both artists’ voices.

Then, the mood lifts with ‘SAY IT NOW’, blending EDM beats and retro synths into a fun, rhythmic track. The slight autotune gives it a playful edge that feels lighthearted and modern.

With ‘CUT’, Seung Yoon experiments with melodic rapping and powerful vocals, creating a unique contrast that makes this song stand out for its emotion and structure.

‘HOMELESS’ opens with soft whistling and sets an introspective tone. This track leans into emotional storytelling, carried by simple yet touching instrumentals.

‘MULLY MULLY’ brightens things up with a summery pop sound and an easygoing rhythm. It’s breezy, upbeat, and catchy, a refreshing moment in the tracklist.

‘LIE TO ME’ (feat. Ho Ryun) deepens the emotions again, offering a beautifully composed piece filled with raw, captivating vocals.

As the album approaches its end, ‘BUSY BUDDY’ introduces a slightly angsty tone, blending cello instrumentals and a pop groove to create a song that feels cinematic and textured.

Finally, ‘SKY ROOF’ closes the album with beautiful acoustic guitar and airy, intimate vocals, a serene and heartfelt finale to this emotional journey.

With ‘PAGE 2’, Kang Seung Yoon delivers a masterful solo album that captures his artistic growth and musical maturity. The storytelling, arrangements, and vocals flow seamlessly from one track to the next, a testament to his evolution as both a singer and composer.
