[Review] JUNE – ENDING

JUNE, a soloist under Planetarium Records is back with his new mini-album ‘ENDING’. Let’s dive right in, I’m expecting killer vocals and a smooth R&B feel. In the album description the songs are labelled as ‘positive’ and the word ‘ending’ is just another way of saying ‘beginning’.

ENDING

We start off the mini-album with the song ‘Opening’ featuring labelmate Moti. This is exactly what I was expecting. JUNE’s vocals are superb and Moti’s feature is really, really dope. I’m a sucker for deep voices, so I’m not surprised I genuinely enjoyed this.

‘A day of weather’ follows that with a very city-pop opening. There’s a really fun drum sample being used. Just listening to this will give you a shot of dopamine. The ‘la la la’ is catchy and begs you to sing along.

Next up is the track ‘Now’ featuring THAMA. We get a really groovy guitar opening. There are bossa nova elements thrown in as well with some funky trumpet. The bass in this is excellent. I’m in love with this track. I’m officially naming it my favorite song of the mini.

After that we get the title track ‘Anywhere’ that came accompanied by a new music video. Vibe wise it feels quite similar to ‘Now’ though it has more retro elements to it. It’s absolutely lovely and such a fun listen. Pay attention to the strings, because WOW.

The last track is ‘Beautiful’ featuring label mates Gaho, Moti and Jung Jinwoo. I love all of them together. If anyone else is missing PLT, this is your chance. If you want to learn more about the interesting system Planetarium Records has, go check out our podcast

Overall

‘ENDING’ by JUNE is fantastic so stop sleeping on him. He wrote and composed every single track with the features co-writing their verses. The talent here is incredible, so wake up y’all.

I couldn’t find the mini on Spotify yet, but it’s on YouTube Music here.
