[Review] JO YURI – Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major

Jo Yuri is back with her new EP ‘Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major’. The EP, according to the album description is all about Yuri’s attitude towards life. Let’s dive right in!

Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major

We start off with the opening track ‘Round and Around’. This intro is some cute hybrid pop that is a lovely introduction to the album.

Next up is the title track ‘Love Sssh!’. I am living for this pop track! It’s fun, catchy, and kind of a throwback to the early 2010s. The dance pop track has some really funky guitars and I liked the layering with the vocal samples. Jo Yuri’s vocals are fab and the music video is fun, colorful and the fashion is on point.

‘Rolla Skates’ follows that with a pop R&B vibe. The piano loop is fun and I really enjoyed the airiness. It’s a track that definitely needs to join your K-pop summer playlist. It’s a vibe.

We’re slowing down a bit with ‘This Time’. The ballad blesses us with some fantastic vocals and a beautiful piano accompaniment and stunnnig strings. It’s a fantastic ballad that will have you feeling hopeful and nostalgic at the same time.

The closing track is ‘Opening’. This is a contemporary waltz that was co-written and co-composed by Yuri herself. I love the grandeur of the track. It’s beautifully done.

Overall, ‘Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major’ by Jo Yuri is a great addition to her discography. It’s really quite lovely and I’ll be replaying this for a while.
