[Review] Hyolyn – SAY MY NAME

The QUEEN Hyolyn is back with a new mini-album. ‘SAY MY NAME’ is the title for this production and I just have to say that we missed her music so much. In this EP she included a few of her previous releases, including ‘9LIVES’ which she performed on Mnet’s show ‘GOOD GIRL’, and the summer bops ‘SEE SEA’ and ‘Dally’.

SAY MY NAME

Morning Call’ plays first in the EP and this song is all about incredible vocals. I love the orchestration in this song, this pop ballad is a heartwarming listen, it flows flawlessly and the only thing we have to do is enjoy Hyolyn’s amazing vocals.

The title track ‘SAY MY NAME’ is next and from the start I loved the reggae vibe of this song. This song screams summer release with a mixing and layering that was made to vibe to it. Hyolyn’s vocals are top notch as usual, the music video is colorful and she is rocking every single look in it.

Next on this EP we get the legendary bops ‘Dally’, ‘SEE SEA’ and ‘BAE’, no introduction is needed for this holy trinity, they are timeless.

Last on this EP is the song ‘9LIVES’, Hyolyn went off with her vocals in this track with majestic high notes, amazing vocalization and an emotional performance that had me completely absorbed when I watched her performance in ‘GOOD GIRL’ and the music video.
