[Review] Ha Sung Woon – Select Shop

Ha Sung Woon is back with the repackage of ‘Select Shop’. Let’s take a closer look at the new singles!

Select Shop

The first new song is ‘Cake’. It’s a very fresh sounding song with cute whistles and fun brass added to the instrumentation. It feels a bit like a song you’d hear in a musical and I dig it. The rhythm is quite groovy and when the electric guitar comes in, I was sold.

Next up is the title track ‘Strawberry Gum’ featuring Don Mills. This is such a cute track. We get some retro funk with a rather interesting addition of Don Mills. I was surprised how well the rap verse and the vocals blended together. It’s a really fun song that will get stuck in your head in no time.

Following that is ‘Let’s Sing’. This pop rock style suits Ha Sung Woon’s vocals really well. It’s catchy and gives off a lot of happy energy. There’s some really awesome vocal work happening in this track.

‘Galaxy Dust’ is a dreamy pop ballad that compares love to the vast Milky Way. It’s a very soft listen and feels very wholesome.

The last new track is ‘Magic Word’. It has a very interesting instrumentation, it feels like we’re underwater with the use of the samples. The synths that is added adds to that effect.

The other tracks were on his previous EP ‘Sneakers’ which you can read about here. You can listen to ‘Select Shop’ by Ha Sung Woon on Spotify here.
