[Review] Golden Child – [YES.]

Golden Child dropped their fifth mini-album ‘[YES.]‘. For this release a few of the members were involved with the writing and composition of the album. Let’s check out the music.

[YES.]

With a cinematic intro ‘YES.‘ starts, this song feel like the soundtrack for a thriller, and sets out a mysterious mood with beautifully crafted instrumentation.

The title track ‘Burn It‘ is next, this track goes onto the more tropical EDM sound giving us summer feels. The members harmonizing for the chorus was a nice touch, and the whistling throughout the full track was a interesting touch.

I really liked the rap line in the bridge, it was kinda dramatic but super cool. The music video for this track is basically a thriller including a zombie apocalypse and the members trying to survive. It was very well done, and the acting was superb, watch it below.

Bass takes over in the single ‘Cool Cool‘ and we get an up-beat track that surprised with every beat drop. This song is very dynamic and fun to listen too, the vocals were on point and the falsettos fantastic.

With House music beats ‘Round N Round‘ is next. This absolute summer bop is electronic music festival material and I loved the mixing and layering. It is well balanced between vocals and beat, and has a sentimental feel to it.

Milky Way‘ starts on a more sentimental note, this pop song is kinda emotional and the vocal tone variety is very interesting to listen.

Retro pop comes along in ‘Breathe‘ and this song feels like the OST of a coming-of-age drama. Loved the vibe in this track, it is the perfect closing for this very well crafted and diverse release, even the rap delivery felt like a throwback and I am loving it.

This mini-album sparked my curiosity about Golden Child, they have a wide variety of vocals in the group and this release was well rounded and absolutely fun to listen to. I will be for sure checking in depth they discography. Check some of our previous reviews here.
