[Review] Golden Child – [Game Changer]

The boys from Golden Child are back with their second full-length album ‘[Game Changer]’. Let’s dive right in!

[Game Changer]

We start off the album by Golden Child with the intro ‘Game Changer’. It clocks in just over one and a half minute and sets the tone for this release. We get an ominous soundscape with some heavy EDM.

Next up is the title track ‘Ra Pam Pam’. This Moombahton track is a major vibe. It’s catchy and a major vibe. The chorus is a total earworm and I love the vocals! The music video is super interesting and they really said BUDGET.

We’re going pop rock with ‘Bottom of the ocean’. For some reason it reminds me of the emo pop rock from the early 2000s. They threw in some EDM which makes for a rather interesting mix. I hope they do a livestage for this track with a real band. It’d be awesome.

‘Fanfare’ starts off as a complete banger. The disco funk style with the deep bass is absolutely awesome. The brass they added makes it extra funky.

Next up

The ballad ‘Singing in the rain’ is by the sub-unit Joo Chan and Bo Min. We’re getting some delightful piano and beautiful vocals. It’s jazzy and it suits their voices so well.

‘GAME’ is by TAG and Ji Beom and brings us back to funk. There’s some really cool rapping and overall ‘GAME’ is just a really fun listen that’ll give you your daily dose of serotonin.

Next up is ‘SPELL’. This major vibe is a really cool banger. This electro-dance style doesn’t grow old! It’s really fun! The rap verse in the bridge was fire.

‘OUT THE WINDOW’ is a Dae Yeol solo is a mid-tempo pop ballad. There are some really cute synths in the background. Dae Yeol’s vocals really shine.

After that we get the track ‘POPPIN” by Y and Jang Jun. This retro dance song has some really funky elements to it. The rapping is exquisite and I wish they’d release a retro music video for this. It feels a bit second gen and it’s awesome.

The following track is ‘That Feeling’ by members Seungmin, Jaehyun, and Donghyeon. It’s a cute little pop song that has some great instrumentation.

The last track is ‘I Know’ which is a great, impactful ballad that gives us a perfect closure.

Overall, ‘Game Changer’ by Golden Child is a really great listen. They balanced everything well and I love the fact that we got all the sub-unit tracks. Go ahead and listen to the album on Spotify here.
