[Review] Glitch

We’re back with our new review, this time we watched the K-drama ‘Glitch’. The 10 episode Netflix production had us very intrigued with its line-up so we jumped on top of it right after its release date.

‘Glitch’ is a series written by Jin Han-Sae who also wrote the popular series ‘Extracurricular’ that was released in 2020. ‘Glitch’ was directed by Roh Deok who also directed ‘The Exclusive: Beat The Devil’s Tattoo’.

Plot

Now, the plot of the drama is an interesting one! It’s a bit out of the box and I haven’t really seen the topic touched quite often in K-dramas.

We follow Hong Ji-Hyo portrayed by Jeon Yeo-Bin (‘Vincenzo’, ‘Night in Paradise’) as she tries to find her ex-boyfriend after his disappearance. The thing is, this isn’t just a regular disappearance. Ji-Hyo believes that aliens are to blame.

She joins a group that she found through an alien believer blog where she reconnects with childhood friend  Huh Bo-Ra played by Nana from the girl group After School.

They discover a strange cult and venture deeper and deeper into the odd religion.

Overall

This was such a great show! The performances were outstanding! I really want to put Jeon Yeo-Bin in an extra spotlight, because she was marvelous! Her character had so many different dimensions and her emotional scenes were so well acted.

I liked the difficult friendship between Ji-Hyo and Bo-Ra. There’s a lot of history there, and a lot of hurt and they both portrayed that difficult relationship so well!

Also a quick shout out to the other three members of the alien believer group. Captain Prince,  Cho Philip and Kim Dong-Hyuk did a great job as the loveable idiots and brought some much needed comedic relief.

The ten episodes are definitely worth a watch!
