2020 rookies GHOST9 started off a new era with their newest EP ‘NOW: Where we are, here‘. They did a wonderful job with their PRE EPISODE series, and we are looking forward to see what surprises they are bringing in this new release.
Let’s play the tracks!
NOW: Where we are, here
Starting off this release is ‘Trigger – Intro‘ with an EDM base track that welcomes listeners to GHOST9’s new era. I enjoyed how alternative and mysterious this track is, it definitely sparked my curiosity.
The title track ‘SEOUL‘ plays next with synth and a lot of EDM, this track feels like an anthem for anyone that lives in Seoul. The futuristic vibe in this track is kinda cool and goes so well with the storyline in the music video.
Big props to the CGI team, they did an incredible job with the effects in the music video, and definitely made Seoul look like a city in the future. The dragon flying at the end was spot on! Check the mv below.
Bass and techno welcome listeners to ‘UNO‘, and make this song an amazing and super cool dance track. The transitions in this track are super different and make this song one of a kind, the harmonization in the chorus is fantastic. Vocal Kings!
‘Starvoy‘ begins with some groovy synth and bass. This track leans more towards the House music style and I am here for it. I loved how well they combined the vocals and rapping with the track. This song is smooth and an easy and fun listen. It’s a guaranteed song to make you groove.
With a very interesting composition we get ‘Hide & Seek‘. Even though the track is mainly EDM based, the addition of the electric guitar riff and the piano acoustics made this song unique, and just get better with GHOST9’s very impressive vocal line.
Last on this EP is ‘Monday to Sunday‘ and this track was co-written and co-produced by Dongjun special for their fans. The very cool and wholesome track has an R&B feel to it, that makes it the perfect closure for this EP.
We are looking forward to see what the next chapter for GHOST9 brings, they are definitely a group you should keep an eye on.
