[Review] Aespa – Savage

SM’s latest girl group Aespa is finally back with their first mini-album ‘Savage‘. Since their debut with ‘Black Mamba‘ and most recently the single ‘Next Level‘, this girl group has been in the spotlight with their talent and very unique concepts.

This EP includes six brand new songs, written by well-known names in the industry like Kenzie, our personal favourite SAAY, among others. We are expecting bop after bop, let’s dive in.

Savage

aenergy‘ kicks off this release with big anthem vibes and a powerful sound. This single is the perfect start of a concert song, and I can totally see a big group being hyped up with this track.

The title track ‘Savage‘ comes next. Get ready for a tune with a very interesting and unique sound. The trap style in this track and the ad-libs are super good and leave a strong impression. The change in tempo in the bridge was a fun surprise and super also impressive, that high note was just flawless.

The music video goes off with intense, stunning aesthetics and special effects that are definitely the next level. Watch it below.

Synth takes over in ‘I’ll Make You Cry‘ and with this single you can absolutely hear the in-house production. The balance of EDM, synth and vocals is super unique to SM artists, and it is an absolute killer. This song is a total trip, get ready for a musical experience.

EDM and heavy synth take over in ‘YEPPI YEPPI‘. This single is like a happy virus and will put a smile in your face with its vocals and fun vibe. It is a total party anthem. A total win!

ICONIC‘ comes next with very impressive harmonizations and a fantastic style, this single is indeed iconic and a very enjoyable listen.

Aespa’s first mini-album reaches its end with the single ‘Lucid Dream‘. With this tracks we get to appreciate the members’ dreamy vocals with an R&B/EDM tempo.

The members’ vocals and rapping were fantastic in this release and every single song showed the uniqueness of each member and how well they work together as a group. You can listen to this release here.
