[Review] Aespa – Girls

The girls from aespa are finally back with their second mini-album ‘Girls‘, over the last month they dropped the pre-release tracks ‘Illusion‘ and ‘Life’s Too Short‘, and we are looking forward to listen to the other singles in this release.

With ‘Girls‘ fans are finally getting ‘Forever‘, the remake single ‘Dreams Come True‘ and their legendary debut track ‘Black Mamba‘ in the CD version to add to the album collection, along with with three brand new singles and the original version in Korean of ‘Life’s Too Short’.

Girls

Girls‘ is the title track. It also kicks off this release on the very edgy and EDM driven side of aespa. They are transporting us right into naevis with this song and its powerful sound, including insane instrumentals and even a touch of rock in this single. Winter, Karina, Giselle and Ningning go off in this track with their high notes, rap flow and excellent vocals.

For the music video we are once again in naevis, battling the unknown and saving the day. The visuals for this MV are matrix like with clean aesthetics and gorgeous visuals. The members have a mission and we are with them trying to complete it. All of them look powerful, and ready for the fight. Watch it below.

The pre-released single ‘Illusion‘ comes along. Get ready to jam non stop to this one. ‘Lingo‘ is the second new track introduced in this release. This one brings a lovely harmonica riff mixed with flawless and very smooth EDM and bass. This song is a very fun and captivating mix of genres, their singing is rather bright and soft which makes up for a very interesting contrast in this single.

Following this original version of ‘Life’s Too Short‘, we get the pop ballad ‘ICU‘. This one has warm vocals and a hopeful feeling. This single is a soft feel good song and I loved how sweet and heart warming the lyrics delivery in this single. Adorable and wholesome music for the feels.

Next up, we have the English version of ‘Life’s Too Short’ and the pre-released song ‘Black Mamba‘, ‘Forever‘ and ‘Dreams Come True‘. Check the music videos below.
