Rapper In The Spotlight: Jvcki Wai

Today’s feature spits fire and breaks stereotypes. She is a trendsetter who isn’t afraid of trying new things and her style is just freaking amazing. Today we are talking about Jvcki Wai.

A collaborative start

Hong Ye-eun (a.k.a. Jvcki Wai) started off her music career with the collaborative extended play ‘Life Sucks’ along with Futuristic Swaver in 2015. 19-year-old Jvcki Wai definitely knew what she wanted to do with her sound and music, proof of that is her feature in this release. Here is the track ‘Crying $ouljuhs’.

Later on that year she released her first solo single ‘Leap Over’ with her very unique sound and voice that her fans love. Below you can find the track.

In 2016, she signed under The Ugly Junction and officially debuted and released her first extended play ‘Exposure’. The title track under the same name, featuring PNSB is an extremely underrated song. 20-year-old Jvcki Wai killed it with this debut EP.

In 2017, she released the singles ‘Suspenser’, ‘Garoo’ and ‘Munch Drunk Purp’. Below you can check out her live version of the last single.

At the end of 2017, the second EP ‘Neo Eve’ was released along with the music video for the tracks ‘Anarchy’ and ‘No Maria But A Human’. In this release she used a more Hip-Hop and Trap sound, very unique and a great fit for her music style and voice.

Indigo Music

2018 represented a new start for Jvcki, she signed with Indigo Music and released her first full length album ‘Enchanted Propaganda’. This album ranked in the Korean charts and the title track with the same name as the album became one of her most known releases. Here is the music video.

In the same year, the singles ‘Jvcki And The Banshees’, ‘Trap Card’ and ‘Volcano’ were released. Below is the live performance for the first one (total badass!!).

Fire Collabs

She has tons of collabs with well known hip-hop artists such as Jay Park, Simon Dominic, Zico, Giriboy and many others. In 2018, along with label mates Kid Milli, NO:EL, Young B and Swings she released the single ‘Work Out’, check it out.

Here are some of my favorite collaborations.

1 – Jvcki Wai, Young B, Osshun Gum, Han Yo Han – DDING (Prod. By GIRIBOY)

This song is one of my favorite ones. The music video is bananas and the song a total bop. Check it out.

2 – Simon Dominic – ‘GOTT (Feat. MOON, 우원재 & Jvcki Wai)

This music video freaks me out. But this collab is just SO GOOD.

3 – ZICO – Daredevil (Feat. Jvcki Wai, YUMDDA)

This song is cool and Jvcki looks adorable.

4 – Bryn ‘Q’ – stop talking! (Feat. Jvcki Wai)

A lot of power in one single song, and also this collaboration should be better known because it is top quality.

Make sure to check out her entire playlist on Spotify below. And here is the link to her SoundCloud, where she has some incredible tracks and her 2017 MixTapeGoodBye World’.
