For this edition of Offstage, we’re diving into the incredible journey of Belle—a rising star who made her mark in the Korean music scene long before debuting as a member of KISS OF LIFE. Known by her real name, Shim Hye-won, Belle has been active as a composer and lyricist since 2021, crafting songs for some of the biggest names in K-pop.
Belle’s first official work as a composer dates back to 2021, when she produced ‘FIND YOU’ for Purple Kiss, a single released as part of the LULUPOP Project. That same year, she made her debut as a lyricist, collaborating with Kid Milli on ‘Kitty’, a track from his album ‘Cliché’.
Moving into 2022, Belle expanded her portfolio by co-composing two tracks—‘Softly’ and ‘Charging’—for (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon as part of her debut solo album ‘MY’. She also contributed as a lyricist for ‘TRUE VIBE’ by SOULBYSEL, DAUL, and C’SA, as well as Moon Soo Jin’s OST ‘Tropical’.
Just before her official idol debut, Belle played a major role in composing and writing lyrics for one of 2023’s biggest K-pop hits—Le Sserafim’s ‘Unforgiven’. This solidified her reputation as an industry powerhouse before she even stepped on stage as an idol.
Producing Work for KISS OF LIFE
With KISS OF LIFE, Belle continues to shine not just as a performer, but also as a composer and lyricist. She was deeply involved in the group’s debut EP, working on both the title track ‘Shhh’ and her solo B-side single ‘Countdown’. She also contributed to songs like ‘My 808’ and ‘Says It’ from their second EP, ‘Born to Be XX’, as well as their 2024 hit, ‘Sticky’.
Other Producing Works
Even after debuting as an idol, Belle hasn’t slowed down in her work as a composer and lyricist. In 2024, she worked on two songs for (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon—‘Sky Walking’ and ‘Swan’—as well as composing ‘Hypnotize’ for VIVIZ.
