Ode To The Artist: RAINBOW99

We’re back with a new Ode To The Artist and this time we’re going out of the pop scene and into the electronic scene with the artist RAINBOW99.

According to his Bandcamp introduction he is a musician, guitarist, composer, record producer, sound and noise designer, and a famous guitarist. He creates wonderful ambient music and is well known in that niche.

Debut

RAINBOW99 debuted in 2013 with the album ‘DREAMPOP’

The same year he also released a project album together with Yoon Jae Ho and the single ‘Very Slowly’.

In 2014 RAINBOW99 dropped the album ‘Seoul’.

The year after he released a single every single month with each time a different town as the title. He then collected every track and released them together on the full-length album ‘Calendar’

Yoon Jae Ha and RAINBOW99 teamed up again for another album project in 2016.

He came out with two full albums in 2017. The first one came out in June and the second one in November.

In 2018 he also released a single every single month. He started in Nonsang in January. He released the compilation album in 2019.

The same year he also came out with the albums ‘Dongducheon’ and ‘Zoo’ and also the EP ‘SOYO’

2020 was filled with three full length albums: ‘TELEKID; on marble’, ‘OREUM’ and ‘THE WATER CYCLE’

This year RAINBOW99 has released the album ‘Winter 1’ and the single ‘Part 1 Redevelopment Blues’.

I think RAINBOW99 is a very interesting musician to follow. He has a way of creating music in a very organic way. It’s almost as if the environment around him is begging him to put the place in sound. I really enjoy listening to his domestic tours where he visits towns and place in Korea to create a unique, one-of-a-kind track that will have you daydreaming about those places and feelings.

Definitely go ahead and check out RAINBOW99 on Spotify here.
