MV Recommendation: Sulli – Goblin

Sulli is back with her first solo song. She used to be part of the popular girl group f(x) but decided to leave the group after struggling with her mental health.

Let’s talk about the video though, because I was shook when I first saw it.

The video starts of with Sulli talking to the camera, as if she was speaking to a therapist. She explains about the three different personalities she has in her. For me, it’s the first time I saw a music video where a mental health disorder was brought forward. I felt the dissociative disorder was brought to attention quite tastefully.

In the beginning I wasn’t sure if this was going to make a shtick out of a personality disorder, but after watching the full thing, I can’t say I’m mad about it. They didn’t make her look like a crazy person which I’m really grateful for.

In the lyrics there’s a quick mention of her own cat. She sings: ‘Don’t be afraid of the cat without fur.’ Sulli has a sphynx cat.

The dancers in the video are from LA Contemporary Dance Company and I feel like they did a really good job dancing in the haunted house.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this song and the music video. It’ll be interesting to follow Sulli’s solo career path as she continues on. I’m sure she’ll do great things.
