Mini-Album Review: Ryu Su Jeong (Lovelyz) – Tiger Eyes

Lovelyz Ryu Su Jeong just dropped her first mini album ‘Tiger Eyes’. This her first solo project, previously she had released a couple of collabs and she was also part of a few OSTs as featured artist.

We are excited to listen to her music. So, let’s start this off.

Tiger Eyes

Be Cautious’ is the intro track for this release. It is packed with fun and really cool beats and Su Jeong whispering “be cautious” at the end of the song was a very interesting addition to the track.

The title track ‘Tiger Eyes’ is next, the arrangement and layering of this track is fire, I loved the different beats mixed in and the vocals were on point. Check out the music video below.

CALL BACK’ is the next track with a slower tempo in comparison to ‘Tiger Eyes’, and really cool lo-fi hip-hop beats. Su Jeong’s vocals are very smooth in this song, total queen.

We get major OST vibes with ‘Your Name’, this song is the perfect soundtrack for a romantic drama, it has the right tempo, feeling and it is overall super sweet. ‘42=’ follows it and this song feels quite indie and I absolutely love that! It is refreshing and the perfect song to listen to in the spring.

NA, NI’ plays with chill beats and a soothing rhythm, this song feels like a warm hug with its sweet vocals and flow. Closing this release is ‘Lullaby (zz)’ and as you might have guessed by the title this acoustic piece is heart warming and incredibly peaceful. Overall, it felt like the perfect track to close off this release.

Ryu Se Jeong’s first release was a great surprise for me. She is an incredible vocalist and in this mini album we get to hear different sides of her music style and I completely loved how each song was so unique.
