Your friends have been listening to a lot of K-pop lately and you’d like to discover some good Korean music as well. Only problem, you’re not a huge fan of pop and you prefer listening more to rock or indie artists.
That’s absolutely no problem. Korean music is not only the big idol groups like BTS, NCT, Blackpink or Twice. There are also a LOT of smaller indie groups. There’s plenty to choose from. I wrote this article as a way to help you out and help you discover some more different genres in the Korean Hallyu wave.
This is only part 1. I was collecting all the indie/rock groups I’ve been listening to. If I wouldn’t have split it up, this would have been a crazy long article.

DAY6
This is one of the best known pop rock bands in South Korea. Listen to their latest comeback.

SE SO NEON
They have such a mellow sound also I’m totally in love with Hwang So-yoon’s voice. She also helped Dean with his song ‘Instagram’. She played the guitar part. So-yoon also dropped a solo album under the name So!YoON! and you should definitely go check that out because it’s fantastic!

NATIONAL PIGEON UNITY
I’ve only recently discovered these guys, but they rock! Take a look at their hyper performance of ‘Same Same’.

OKDAL
This indie duo has super soft voices and I’m just in heaven every time I listen to their songs. It’s so soothing. This song is the feel good song you need in your life.

SOUTH CLUB
This is a slightly more known band. Their sound is super nice. They’re so worth checking out.

DICKPUNKS
These guys are so CUTE!!!!!! I love their vibe and their music. Don’t ask me about their name choice, because I’ve no idea how they got to that particular decision.

SURL’s members are super young, but their music is incredible. Stan talent!
