[Indie Pick] Summer of Thoughts

The indie singer-songwriter Summer of Thoughts is our choice for our Indie Pick this week. Summer of Thoughts is a solo artist. His real name is Park Jong-hyun.

Debut

He debuted as Summer of Thoughts in 2009 with his self-titled full-length album. His title track ‘Word’ is a soft indie folk track.

Summer of Thoughts came back in 2012 with the single ‘Goodbye’.

It wasn’t until 2016 that he came back with his second full-length album ‘The Cape’. It’s an intimate album that feels very fragile, like a gust of wind could knock it over.

A couple of months later, he dropped his other album ‘Into The Forest Again’

In 2017 he released the wonderful single ‘From a Tree Perspective’. This is one of my favorite songs by him. It’s fantastic, very poetic and an incredible listening experience.

‘From a Tree Perspective’ comes back on his full album ‘The Republic of Trees’. His title track ‘Love me as mosses do’ features none other than Choi Sae Bom also known as Big Baby Driver.

2021 started off well with the release of ‘Hand in Hand’ featuring Kang Asol.

Then came the wonderful single ‘Moment’ featuring Kim Ildu which I featured before here.

In June 2021 he came out with ‘Soundfield’ which brings us back to his indie roots.

His most recent comeback is the single ‘Landing’ featuring Kim Sawol.

Go ahead and check him out on Spotify here and on Instagram here
