[Indie Pick] Seong Inchang

We’re back with a new Indie Pick and this time we’re introducing Seong Inchang. The indie folk singer hasn’t been around for that long, but the music he has released is touching and soft.

Debut

Seong Inchang debuted in January 2019 with the EP ‘Always thing that is not’. The title track ‘Letter’ featuring Choi Yu Ree is a beautiful ballad.

In an interview he mentioned that he only started singing after hearing a song by Rachael Yamagata. I think the folk ambience is the red thread in his music.

A couple of months later he came out with the single ‘Rainy Season’. About the single he said this: “It is a song depicting a scene where someone is still waiting anxiously for someone with an umbrella, recalling the rain that fell with the old love in the rainy season when it continues to rain.”

In 2020 Seong Inchang released the wonderful single ‘ILLUSION’. The ambience he created in the track is beyond beautiful. The layering of the electronic samples create such an intimate, interesting moment.

His most recent comeback is the single ‘Lethargy’ that we shared in our Weekly K-Indie Report here. This is also the single that made me discover him.

I’m very intrigued by his discography and will be looking forward to his upcoming releases. Make sure to keep an eye out.

Lastly you can find him on Instagram here and on Spotify here.
