Getting Over The K-Drama Blues

We’ve all been there. We found this amazing drama, we fell in love with the story, the actors, the scenery, the direction. But then we finish the K-drama and everything seems so simple, boring and we can’t just get over that one scene or the chemistry between the actors. Nothing seems relatable anymore.

That moment is when we start our drama slump or drama blues. No drama is enjoyable anymore, you just can’t get into any storyline. Nothing is the same.

But don’t worry. We’ve got your back. Here are some tips to get you out of a Drama Slump.

Number 1: Why not rewatch it?

Whenever I find myself having the drama blues, I rewatch it. I really enjoy catching that one moment I overlooked or just reliving all of my favourite scenes. Once I feel I’m over it I move onto the next drama, which brings us to the next point.

Number 2: Something light-hearted for the suffering heart

Why not try watching an easy-to-watch drama?. After finishing a heavy story that left me in a slump I try to watch light-hearted ones. The ones that you can binge watch in a couple of days and will leave you feeling good. If this doesn’t work there is always one more option.

Number 3: Taking a break

Even though I love dramas, sometimes I take a break from them. I do this mostly after heavy stories that I find hard to get over. For me a break of one or two weeks normally does the job, and in this period I try to discover new music, or watch the movies I had in my to watch list for weeks.

What dramas have left me in a drama blues?

There are a few, but recently ‘Crash Landing On You’ (CLOY) left me with that bitter feeling. After this amazing drama I watched ‘My Holo Love’. The story was more light-hearted but still amazing and it definitely helped me get over CLOY. Both dramas are completely different and that helped a lot.

My very first drama blues happened after watching ‘Gentleman’s Dignity’ (my very first drama), after watching it I did not know what to watch next. Youtube helped a lot and I started watching classic dramas (Boys Over Flowers, Playful Kiss, Secret Garden) thanks to a few recommendations from youtubers.

Probably my worst case of the drama blues was after watching ‘Coffee Prince’, this story was so wholesome and amazing that it got me off dramas for a while. After not finding anything that felt as good as this drama, I just decided to discover new music, and catch up on some reading. And after a while I was ready for my next adventure.

And you? Have you had a case of the Drama blues? Share your story or let us know how you got over it.
