February Korean Indie DisKovery

We’re back with our top picks of our February Korean Indie DisKovery. This month literally went by so fast, it was quite hectic. However, just like most months we were blessed with some outstanding new music. Let’s take a closer look at some of my favorites.

Week 1

Hongbi released the EP ‘I’m a loser’. This is such a fun indie EP. I also thoroughly enjoyed ‘Won’t I’ with the twangy guitars.

Herhums’ album ‘humming in chaos’ blew me away so much. It’s such an intriguing listen. Go ahead and check out our interview about the album here.

Asian Boys, Crying released ‘Citipop’. The groove, the saxophone, the smooth beat, everything works so well together. I’ve been absolutely obsessing over this track for the past couple of weeks.

Week 2

Liberosis came out with ‘Change’. This is a super cool jazz moment. If you enjoy music more on the experimental spectrum you definitely have to check this out.

Cheap.N.Sweet dropped the EP ‘Dirty Sweaty Lights’. A rock moment with awesome guitars, grungy vocals and cool drums. I particularly enjoyed ‘DIRTY SWEATY LIGHTS’ for its laidback attitude.

Kimminseong came out with the full album ‘The human condition’. In June he had pre-released his track ‘Oasis’ which I very much enjoyed. This entire album is a healing experience accompanied by the soft crooning vocals of Kimminseong.

Week 3

The band BLUE ROOM released the single ‘badbutgood’. This group is a new discovery for me. I am very curious to see what kind of music they go for next. This single is hella dope.

STAY’S dropped the groovy ‘Let me know’. I’m still absolutely in love with this. The vocals are so warm and rich and so well balanced.

Kim Hyo Rin released ‘Sleepless Nights’. If you’re in need of a heart wrenching ballad, then this is the one for you.

Week 4

Lady Rocket came out with the single album ‘Lady Rocket’ and it’s just such a mesmerizing listen. Her deep vocals feel really soothing and create a storytelling ambience.

IPSAEM released the R&B EP ‘Four’. It’s an interesting blend of genres. There’s even a city pop moment in there with ‘City Love’.

DIH is a female rock group and I am here for this badassery. Their single ‘BREAK OUT’ is cool, powerful and a vibe.
