We’re back with a new Actor Spotlight and this time we’re taking a closer look at the work of none other than Choi Won-Young. Let’s dive in!
Debut
Choi Won-Young has been a steady presence in the K-drama world for over 20 years, having debuted in 2002 with his role in ‘Sex is Zero’.
The next couple of years he had performances in movies like ‘Love in magic’ (2005), ‘Cheaters’ (2007), and ‘Confession of murder’ (2012).
More recent film appearances were in ‘Past Lives’ and ‘Yaksha: Ruthless Operations’.
On the K-drama side of things, he first started appearing in 2007 in the show ‘High as Sky Wide as Earth’.
The following years he had roles in ‘The Great Queen Seondeok’ (2009), ‘While you were sleeping’ (2011), ‘The Heirs’ (2013) and ‘Hello Monster’ (2015).
Some of his bigger break-outs were in series like ‘Sky Castle’ (2018), ‘Doctor Prisoner’ (2019), ‘Hwarang’ (2019) and ‘Mystic Pop up bar’ (2020).
We’re very excited to see what he does next as 2026 is ramping up to be a big year with appearances in ‘To my beloved thief’, ‘Undercover Miss Hong’, ‘The practical guide to love’, Phantom Lawyer’ and ‘We are all trying here’.
