The girlies from NMIXX are back with their new mini-album ‘Strange Muse’. We’re super stoked, so let’s dive right into it!
We start off with the title track ‘Birthday Wish’. According to the album introduction, this is a blend of “Moombahton, Afro, and Future House”. This is a super cool track, I liked the beats a lot and the chanty chorus is a lot of fun. The bridge is superb and the transitions gave me chills.
We’re going hyperpop with ‘Kerosene’. This is an interesting listen and I enjoyed the instrumentals. I’m kind of hoping there will be a couple of remixes of this track, as I think it would be interesting to explore the different vibes. It makes me want to go dancing. The outro goes absolutely bonkers.
‘RudE TaLK’ is a dark pop song with an honestly bipolar sound. The verses all sound very chill and cute, then the chorus absolutely pops off. This one is very cool!
After this we get three sub-units. The first one is ‘You Are The Moon (Sing To The Moon)’ by LILY, and HAEWON. We’re getting a beautiful ballad with outstanding vocals and a sentimental mood. This was lovely!
Next up is ‘Hot ‘n Unbothered’ by SULLYOON, and BAE. We’re going for a party vibe with a Latin groove based on a dembo rhythm.
The closing track is ‘Whip’ by JIWOO, and KYUJIN. This one goes crazy! We’re getting a mix of hip-hop beats and cool synths. It’s a major vibe.
