The king, TAEMIN is back with his album ‘PHASE 1 : Soft Violence’. We’re super stoked so let’s take a closer look!
PHASE 1 : Soft Violence
We start off with the first of two title tracks, ‘FLOAT’. We’re getting a synthy pop track with garage drum beats and honestly a very nice mixing.
“It warmly expresses the excitement of how even a complicated daily life becomes perfect like a fairy tale when shared with a loved one.”
The second title track is ‘Gooey’. This is a really cool track with a combo of hip-hop and piano, and Taemin’s stunning vocals. I really enjoyed the electro chorus.
Next up is the very retro ‘Let me be the one’ which features a New Jack Swing style and some funky beats. This was a really fun listen!
After that comes ‘Sober’ which brings in the alternative dance pop. It “expressing a fatal love where one loses reason and falls deeply for another, as well as the intense desire to refuse to wake up from that addiction.”
‘1004’ is a pop song with a piano and a lot of feelings. It is “utilizing the homonym ‘Angel’ to liken a departed lover to an angel, expressing unforgettable, wistful memories and longing in poetic language.”
‘Easy Loving You’ is a sweet mid-tempo ballad that tells the story of a heart opening up towards a new love. It’s sweet, and has a lovely flow.
We’re going for a darker sound with ‘Skin’. It’s a hip-hop track with deep bass lines and very cool panning between the two headphones. I’m digging this sound a lot! The synth outro was hella dope.
‘PARASITE’ is a pop rock blend with a cinematic flair. I’m kind of obsessed with the synths in the background and the intensity of the background vocals in the bridge. This was such an incredible listen!
Next up is ‘Frankenstein’ and we open with a beautiful piano line. I love the dramatic feel to this. We’re going for a big, beautiful ballad and I dig it so much.
The closing track is ‘This is the end’. It’s a short, alternative dance track with fun pizzicato strings.
