TXT’s Yeonjun is back with his second mini-album ‘NO LABELS: PART 02’. Let’s take a closer look at this comeback!
NO LABELS: PART 02
We start off with ‘Vanilla’ which is a really cool hip-hop track with a cool progression and honestly the sickest chorus. We’re getting a bit of grunge during the chorus which is such a rad combination with the verses.
Next up is the title track ‘Ice Cream’. This is a very hip blend of funk and rock and gets a little twist of Latin instrumentals. Here’s a cute part of the album description: “It portrays a cool relationship where two people are sweet to each other but maintain certain boundaries. It wittily compares the nature of ice cream—which melts if too hot and causes a headache if swallowed too quickly—to a romantic relationship.”
‘Baby Wassup?’ brings back the 2000s R&B. This was such a fun throwback and blends that vintage vibe effortlessly with a contemporary production.
‘No More Disco’ comes in with the Dance Pop alongside some killer synths. “It sings about the moment when two people, who were feeling out of place at a club, accidentally discover each other and grow closer as they are drawn to the music and atmosphere. “
Next up is ‘Fxxing Star’ which is an alternative hip-hop track where Yeonjun can really bring his rapping chops out. I enjoyed how grungy this sounds.
We close off with the track ‘Long Way Long Ride’. This is a lo-fi R&B track and honestly a really lovely closer. I love how smooth this felt and how effortless this felt.
