[Review] EPEX Concludes Their Trilogy with ‘Youth Chapter 3: Romantic Youth’

EPEX is back with the final installment of their impactful trilogy, ‘Youth Chapter 3: Romantic Youth’. Since 2024, they’ve been steadily building this era, and this last chapter brings a cohesive and emotionally charged close to their youth saga. Let’s dive into how they round out the story.

Youth Chapter 3: Romantic Youth

The album opens with ‘Waffle’, blending synth bass and brass for a bold and dynamic start. With a standout vocal stack and rhythmic layering, it’s a strong first impression that pulls listeners in instantly.

Next up is ‘Bang’, a hybrid rock anthem bursting with angst and charisma. Chant-driven and high-energy, the instrumentation is explosive, giving the members room to flex their raw performance power.

‘Picasso’ brings a sharp shift in tone with synth-heavy, hip-hop energy. The vocal distribution and intense rap flows showcase a darker, edgier side of EPEX that’s both captivating and fresh.

The title track ‘Grateful Tears’ softens the mood with a sentimental vibe. Soaring falsettos and heartfelt vocals shine, paired beautifully with melodic rapping for perfect emotional contrast.

Groove returns in ‘Dance With Wolves’, which kicks off with a punchy guitar riff and continues with vibrant, funk-inspired elements that keep the energy flowing.

‘Morning to Midnight’ introduces soft pop layers. The delicate harmonies and gentle ad-libs create a peaceful, emotional listen, even with the rap-line maintaining the mellow tone.

‘Whale Fall’ is a pop-rock power piece. Emotional yet grand, this track builds like a finale, with passionate delivery and stunning dynamics—ideal for the climax of a live concert.

Closing the album is ‘Pluto’, a lighthearted soft-rock single that wraps up this release with warmth, balance, and a sense of forward motion.

‘Youth Chapter 3: Romantic Youth’ not only concludes EPEX’s trilogy with depth and sonic diversity, but also cements their reputation as genre-defying storytellers. Experience the full album here.
