There’s a lot of things that are living rent-free in our minds from the classic drama ‘Secret Garden‘; If I have to pick two, it would be Huyn Bin’s sparkly blue tracksuit and Baek Ji Young’s contribution to the OST, “That Woman”. That song is nothing short of ICONIC.
Serving as the main theme song, the song got us bawling at many a time over the course of the drama. Of course, a Baek Ji Young ballad having that effect is hardly news; She’s not the undisputed queen of drama OSTs for nothing.
The performer’s understated, emotional and evocative performances tugging at our heartstrings are instantly recognizable among drama fans. She’s contributed to numerous TV dramas OSTs, across genres, so, chances are, you already know what we’re talking about. Instant classics like ‘Don’t Forget’ (from IRIS), to ‘Again, Today I love You‘ (from The Princess’ Man) are recognizable even among K-music fans who never watched those dramas. Or ‘See you again‘ from Mr. Sunshine. You get the gist.
A song can make or break a scene, and a great song can even elevate a scene that could have come across as trite otherwise. There’s a reason they keep hiring this lady for OSTs ;).
While I’m sure everyone has their own favourite, ‘That Woman’ is probably the most popular song under her belt. From the first piano key to the last this song is just perfect. I must admit I also have a soft spot for the Hyun Bin version of the song, ‘That Man’. ‘Cause you know… Hyun Bin. *melts*
Enjoy!
